Hyperbaric. I was a tech premed school and I went as a brand new 3rd year. Definatly worth it. I wrote a little article in the last common sense about what a positive experience it was and they didn't have anything at all specicifically for students back then. Now they have a student track planned. If you can you should definately go.

It is SO reasonable for all students and residents. If you live in TX, you really have no excuse not to go! You can join AAEM/RSA, and get to go to the conference FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

in other words what do you wish to gain from attending this conference?

Yeah, he was a bit into himself. But I think he really did offer some great pearls about making a better CV/PS and interviewing...Dr. Hokis said:just got in from the conf
which presentation was your partner's?
i found it ironic that the 'inspriational speaker' was the least inspirational of em all. He was too busy falling in love with himself and all his profits from his books...what a tool.
but AAEM did a great job overall...the surgeon general was an awesome way to set the tone for the weekend.
i didnt get too party and/or enjoy the food and all that texas has too offer unfortunately cuz my classmate and i were studyin each night for our 2 finals comin up this week
that sucked
but good times over all

In the student resident research thing, it was the STEMI alert pilot study. I was quite happy with his performance (and glad I decided to skip the chicken soup guy!).Dr. Hokis said:just got in from the conf

Dr. Hokis said:I doubt we're talking bout the same 'inspirational speaker'.
I'm referring to the author of 'chicken soup for the soul'...that guy was dreadful...I was so distracted by his constant spurts mentioning his books and profits that I didn't have a chance to be inspired.
Does a room full of physicians really care about how one man met so many celebrities???
I couldn't care any less than the next guy
Dr. Hokis said:mental note => rubbing your profits in the faces of others does not make for a good way to set the tone for an inspirational speech.
ok i beat that guy down enough
over it.
there were plenty of other great speakers.
the jeopardy session with attendings vs. residents was a cool concept but the way it was set up was disasterous. it was the first time they had done it so thats why but lookin forward to see that again next year.
For the record the buzzer that was lined up fell through last minute.EMDrMoe said:As far as the jeopardy, a buzzer and one person answering at a time would have helped I think. I hope to be there to see it next year!

Sorry I was being brief not defensive though looking back it came off that way. I wasn't even at the SA cause I am too broke but I was in on alot of the Education track planning. I'm glad the jeopardy was at least a step in the right direction. I won't take full credit for it cause I stole the idea from ACP (IM's specialty org.) but I came up with trying it in San Antonio.Dr. Hokis said:nobody is knockin u or the setup
it was fun
especially since i got EVERY question right
except for the octopus picture
