I feel like the answer to is very simple but it just does not make sense to me

Which item has the highest freezing point?
-13 degree c
-138 degree c
-41 degree c

I thought the answer would be -138 but the answer given is -13. Is not -138 the coldest temperature?

thanks in advance for your input

You are looking at this problem wrong... a compound with the highest melting point (greater melting point might be the better way to say it), has the highest freezing point. -13 = highest m.p., therefore higest freezing point. -138 is the LOWEST freezing point.

Hope that helps...

They asked for HIGHEST dude not LOWEST don't get your negative numbers switched up

Thank you for your responses. I was just getting confused. The highest negative number is the lowest so aka lowest mp=lowest freezing pt. It sucks I missed two Q over it.

Well, at least it is on a practice so i don't make the same mistake on the test. :D
