what did the author describe in the passage?

magnetic stuff, geological stuff, ....combining many different disciplines to describe earth and some of its past.

A. is not true because it is not an innate realization. he is using facts to argue.
C. is not true because it's only looking at one discipline.
D. is not true for the same reason.
