Hi,
What has been other peoples experience with AAMC handling of irregularities with test administration..?
Bye
Amy

from what i heard, they send a letter of apology and do absolutely nothing...

what can you write about anyway? i was wondering if i could cancel my scores? is it too late?

Hi Psychodoctor,
The proctor collected the PS answer sheets 10 minutes before time. Incident reported to ACT and now all candidates will write to MCAT office.
Bye
Amy

what???? 10 minutes before hand?? where? why didn't eveyone jump all over the proctor and insist that her/his time was off?? i can't imagine that not happening? did he/she give a 5minute warning?

I think at most they send a dumb little letter to the med schools you applied to telling them your conditions sucked. However, the score you get still stands. I somehow doubt that any med school would show you sympathy for crappy mcat scores due to testing conditions. I mean just think about it. If I was on the adcom and I was choosing between an applicant with a 35 MCAT and an applicant with a 32 MCAT w/ a bad testing conditions letter, I would choose the 35 only because there would be uncertainty about whether or not the student with a 32 would have actually done a little or lot better given better conditions. So I say if you got screwed this august, suck it up and take it again. Sorry, it's the way of the world.

Hi
Psychi doctor- Noone told the proctor at the time. However immedeately after in the 10 mnin break everyone told her about it. She did announce the 5 minute warning. I think that this seriously compromises the test's so called standardization because it gives about 7-10% less time to us to finish.. that is almost like 2 passages!!
BLZ- I hope they do more than that. I think all the students are going to write. Hopefully they let us retake!! or atleast offer that as an option.

Im not sure, but in the extreme cases, (like someone having a heart attack during the exam), they will write a pretty decent letter. My friend took it this past sat, and the verbal was cut short 10 min, so he filed a complaint. WEll see what happens.

why the heck didn't someone tell her during the test??? i can tell you for sure i would have said something, and i'm quite certain as soon as someone said something others would have lended support. the most important exam in your life up to this point and people wait until it's too late to say a word??? i'm actually shocked!!!

Yup, they send you a letter saying how sorry they are about the situation and that's it. I sent one in last year for my April test b/c we had a power outage and the proctors didn't even stop the test or give us make-up time (so we lost 30-45 min) Also they were a bunch of loud, no-mannered lady proctors that talked and giggled throughout the whole damn test. I wrote to AAMC and all they said was "sorry dude, use this letter for med schools if you want.." pretty much something like that. bunch of BS if you ask me. 😡
