#20 on the PS section.

I've done the math like 3 times and for some reason I am not getting 10^2 kg.

its asking for what mass is needed to cause a 1% change. ie (.01)

if we re-arrange, we get F= (delta L)(E)(A)

ma= (.01)(2 x 10^8)( 5 x 10^-2 m2)

m=(.01)(2 x 10^8) ( 5 x 10^-2 m2)/ 10 = 10 x 10^3 kg.

where did I go wrong. I see that the area was initially given in cm^2 and i thought i converted to meter correctly.

You did everything right except the conversion between cm^2 to m^2.

5 cm^2 * (1m/100cm)^2 = 5x10^-4 m^2

You're supposed to square the 1/100 value because you want the units to match up and cancel. Hope this helps!

Btw, isn't this one on AAMC11, rather than 10?
