Hello everyone,

I am taking an online Kaplan course. Besides several Kaplan full length tests, this course includes an AAMC practice test and 6 AAMC Question Packs.

I find that the Kaplan questions are much more difficult than the AAMC questions. How similar are the Kaplan questions and AAMC questions to the questions found on the actual MCAT?

Which would you recommend focusing on? (I know that ideally I should go through all the questions. But, I am taking the test in 10 days so I want to make sure I look at the questions that would help me the most since I am limited on time)

Hey there! I've never taken the Kaplan full lengths, so I can't comment on the similarities between that and AAMC, but given your timeline, I would highly recommend you start on the AAMC material. This way, you can get a feel of AAMC's tests and address any areas if necessary. You can probably start with the Question packs and then move onto the practice test. At the end of the day, the material released from the AAMC will be most similar to the MCAT.

AAMC Question Packs are a must, but they are from old practice tests. Don't expect them to be representative, although verbal is since that section hasn't been changed significantly. If you do them, they will highlight most of your weaknesses and strengths so you can adjust your studying.

I personally found the AAMC CARS practice packs to be EXREMELY similar to the actual thing. Like, it felt like I was doing another AAMC CARS practice pack. If you're going to pick one or the other, DEFINITELY do the AAMC stuff.

Very!

I'm like 90% sure I actually had an identical question. Could be wrong though.

And I agree with @Doctor Dream that the CARS in particular was similar. Likely an effect of CARS being random topics you are necessarily intended to know anything about, but my real CARS section really did feel like an extension of the Q packs.
