Can someone explain why B (critical period) is incorrect?

Critical period occurs around toddler age, specifically for language development. C and D are obviously wrong, so by process of elimination it’s A. To me, A is the obvious answer, but I can see why it can trip other students because you need to realize that stranger anxiety won’t occur without the ability to discriminate faced/appearances.
