That's a rather unbalanced editorial comment. If you look at the first page it lists total revenue as 31 million and total expenditures for the year at 41 million.
I'd hardly call that "raking it in".
ABIM has always clearly stated they generate all of their operating income from testing fees. You could have picked out other parts such as how much they were paying their legal counsel (391K) or their CEO (442K).
He's right though. The whole maint. of cert. business is designed to make private practice docs spend money and waste time going to courses run by academics (who are the ones who came up with the requirements). Its a racket.
