I am thinking about going to a mission trip that starts from late July to early August. How would this affect my application process if I were to apply this year?

Depends on what school you are applying to, and what type of mission trip it is.

I'm going to be gone for July/August, but will have bi-daily e-mail and limited web access. I've been led to believe that most secondaries now are online. There may be the occasional school that requires a signed form in print, however. For those, I have a friend checking my mail at work. Interviews don't start until at the earliest September anyway, so it's a good time to be gone.

You won't be able to include a "planned" volunteer experience for July if you apply to AMCAS in June, but the experience can be included in any update letters you write to interested schools later in the cycle.
