I just got a call from Stony Brook...........I'm in!!! They are my first choice and I'm 99% sure I'll be attending there. Anyone else hear anything today?

Congratulations! I find it so funny how people are so excited to start dental school in 9 mos and I am so excited to graduate in may!
 
It's not a joke, I received a call today from Univ. of Kentucky telling me I'm in.

Hopefully I will hear from other schools also as next week progresses.

hey mammasan,

i also got in to both tufts and boston universities. i was rather impressed with tufts but didn't think much of BU. anyhow, congrats everyone, and i'll be crossing my fingers for more hopeful news to come!

I got acceptance letters from NYU last week, from Temple and UPENN yesterday. Still don't know where I should go....
 
UNC and Maryland too now...about 75% sure I'll end up at UNC, all depends on whether the Cal schools come through now...glad to hear about everyone's acceptances! Let's keep each other updated on where we get in...

The med applicants students have started a list like this on their site. Below is a list of all the schools that people have mentioned as getting into so far. I've listed them along with the number of people who've gotten in so far in parantheses. When you get into a school, reply to this message and paste this same list in the body of the message. If it's a new school not mentioned yet, then add it's name to the list. If it's one that's already listed, then change the number in parantheses next to the school name so we know how many are in so far. Sound good? Keep'em coming!!!

Congratulations JMCHONG! I had an interview at NYU in early November and I still have not heard anything. Did they send you the good news over the internet or by mail? They told all of us at the interview that we would know of their decsion on Dec. 1st. Let me know what you think. Thanks and Congratulations one more time.

Hi UofM01,

I had interview there late October and got an acceptance letter by mail the day after Thanksgiving. The date on the letter was Dec. 1st but actually they mailed it on Nov. 21st.
You can call and ask them about your status. Even though you havn't heard from them yet, you still have good chance to get good news soon because it is so dynamic at this point.

I got a packet from UNC on Sat. Their committee met on the 28th and sent out the letters on either the 28th or 29th. I live about 25 min. away from the school, so I got my packet pretty quickly. It'll take about a week (at least) for the mail to travel cross-country, so just keep your fingers crossed until later this week! I'm in the same boat w/regards to waiting to hear from UCLA and SF....

skim2...so are u gonna go to Penn? I got the merit scholarship too, and am very tempted, but I'd still end up paying about 80-90K more over the 4 yrs. than I would at UNC....still, I wanna specialize and Penn seems like one of the places to be....I'm torn!

Ms.Purtell....CONGRATS!!! That 10K scholarship is phenomenal, I didn't know they gave those out...i'm still waiting to hear...With that kind of money, and considering that you could become an in-state student after 1 yr. (you're from NY, right?), UConn will be about 32K (with everything) for u 1st yr. and 20 or so after that...I don't know, that's an unbelievable deal for a school of that caliber. Are u planning on specializing? If so, I'd have to go w/UConn over Stony Brook...it's academic/research prep is almost top-notch right now....however, personally, I didn't like the VERY professional atmosphere of the school, I'd prefer a more laid-back, 'college' type setting until I begin clinics 3rd yr...and, UConn did come across as very intense...and I'm not sure how I feel about the very small class size...I guess it's great if you end up w/a wonderful group of folks, but it could also really leave you miserable if you don't (i.e., fewer people to mingle with and find your "niche")....Farmington seemed like a quaint, nice little town, but also pretty dead...but you've got nyc and boston within easy drive....I'll admit my ignorance about Stony Brook, and it's as much a "where would you feel more comfortable" call as it is a reputation one, but I'd choose UConn despite some of the points I've brought up......again, Congrats! :cool:
