Accepted in to VCU/MCV ?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
As far as I know, it's just me and apps-suck. As far as stories, what is it exactly that you'd like to hear?

wow, vcu really is mean with that waiting thing. its like after u get out of the interview, u want to know now!

the feeling is worse than waiting for your mcat scores.

On the other hand, you have a definite date when you know. I'd rather have a definite date than the 'eternal purgatory' lots of schools make you sit in. VCU at least lets you know your file has been reviewed, approximately what your status is (with an admittedly vague and panic-inducing message, but still.. they let you know SOMETHING), and a definite date when admissions decisions are given out. I'd rather have that then perma-hold with the communications abilities of a man who is lost (or the bad boyfriend, take your pick).

I'm in, going there also!! So excited. 😀

Good luck to everyone! Hope to see you there.

Unless EVMS offers me a ton of money or something which is not happening.

Did you just find out?

couldn't have just found out - VCU has specific decision dates. The last one was 10/15, the next one is 12/15. We're counting down in the VCU thread. 6 days!!! 6 days!!!

I cant wait until the 15th!

Well i got a status up date on tuesday saying that i have been placed in the hold category for the next cut off date. So i'm guessing if you haven't heard anything yet then maybe you guys got in for the dec 15 cut?

The decisions are roll-over style, mmm. That is to say, if you don't get a status change on 10/15 (only about 20 acceptances were given out then), your message does NOT change, and you're kept in the pool for possible acceptances on 12/15. So potentially you could not have a status change until 3/15 when you are notified that you're on the waitlist. Or you could get accepted on the 12/15, Jan/Feb, or 3/15 date. There have been folks that got rejected post-interview pre-decision date, so if you made it to the 'hold for status change' you're still in the running.

I actually sat through the 10/15 date hoping against hope to be one of the 20. Now I'm hoping to be one of the 90.

hmmm thats weird...do you mind posting the message? is it different from this message

The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for action at a later date. We anticipate making offers October 15, December 15, at the end of January, and mid-March.

You will receive no further communication from us concerning your hold status. The next status change will be to offer you a position in the class, to notify you that you have been placed on the alternate list in mid-March, or to notify you that the committee will no longer be considering your file. However, this page will have a message at the top indicating each time offers are made.

We thank you for your interest in our school.

I got accepted 10/15 as well, although I'm from out-of-state. MCV seems like a solid school and I'm enthused about it. Still waiting to hear from some others though... but I'd be more than happy to go to MCV.
