I interviewed on 1-4 and haven't heard anything either. I was told that they send out most of the acceptances and denials at the same time and that most wouldn't hear anything until the end of March.

Well, since they wait so long to send out their acceptances, they will lose a lot of candidates who have already received acceptances to other schools. Also, my friend interviewed there and he said that the facilities and technology are out-of-date. They have maybe one or two study lounges in the entire college and provide little to no opportunities for specialized concentrations in pharmacy, like clinical or hospital, etc... So, they will also lose more candidates to other pharmacy schools in that respect.

Somehow their average GPA is still 3.7

They get a lot of students from the area. These students normally only apply to UC and no where else. How do I know this? Hmm...cause I go here..lol..A lot of students don't even bother to apply anywhere else. But I know what you mean, I only applied cause I live here or else I wouldn't even bother. It's very near the end of my list.

I withdrew my application from UC after the interview, but I remember them telling me (both were ad. com. members too) that decisions would be made late April/early May. I was turned off by the interviewers and the college. No offense to anyone at the school or who wants to go there, but I was much more impressed with schools like UNC and Ohio State as far as resources and education are concerned. I did like the computer labs at UC better than at UNC-the internet is very important.

Does UC generally accept more applicants who went to UC for pre-reqs? Because I'm trying to decide whether I should go to UC or Purdue for pre-pharmacy, and I think Purdue favors their undergrads?

UC doesn't care where you complete your prerequisites. As long as you complete them. They don't favor their own students. I don't recommend going to UC to complete your pre-reqs due to many different reasons. UC goes by quarter system, BUT unlike Ohio State, where the courses are 5 quarter credit hours, UC is only 3 credit quarter hours, so you have to take more than 1 quarter of EVERYTHING. I have to take 2 courses of statistics, 2 speech, 2 economics because 2 quarters at UC would give me 6 credits instead of just 1 quarter at OSU would give me 5 credit hours. Most of the pharmacy schools are in semester hours and they general require 3 semester hours of statistics, 3 semester hours of speech, etc...and 3 semester hours are equal to 5 credit hours. If I knew this before hand, I wouldn't transfer to UC.

They also don't care much about the PCAT in the beginning of the admission process. They will grant you an interview if you have a 3.5, doesn't matter what your PCAT score is. Then they will reject you later in April if your PCAT score is not good. They don't look at your overall application even when they tell you that they do. They don't care much about pharmacy experience. They have a very strange system.

I do sound bitter, but it's because I hate the system. I hate how I have to take 2 of everything (minus the science courses) to complete the pre-reqs for other schools.

All I know about Purdue is that they don't take a lot of out of state students. A friend of mine applied to UC and got in. He got rejected from Purdue even without an interview and he applied very early. His GPA was 3.79 with a PCAT of 91%tile. I've heard that Purdue favors their own students. If you have anymore questions about UC, let me know. The good thing about UC is that tuition for their pharmacy program for in-state students is cheap.
