ACEP Denver

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone plan on going? I will definately be there, and likely will be staying for ACOEP the following week.

GOING!!! But only staying for the Sunday, cannot stay after.... working on that SLOR is more important 😎

Ahh well if you come, message me beforehand and Ill say hi at the mixer. I don't want to give away my identity toooo bloody much on here, but I will be helping EMRA with some of the activities.

Sure, let's hope I remember by then 😛 .... I thought I was reading for the evening mixer one needs to be invited? Hope not, I'll just show up..LOL

I'll be there Sunday (working my program's residency fair booth) through Thursday. It's my first national conference 👍

Is there a way to find out who from my school went last year? So I know who to get in touch with and ask about the convention? The EMIG group kinda fizzed out and I just started MSIII so I'd like to get in touch w those ppl. Does EMRA keep a list anywhere?

I shall attend. I've been told I had fun the last time.

FYI: For those only going to the EMRA functions on Saturday and Sunday and not staying the rest of the week, you do not have to pay the registration fee.

For the actual conference portion do you need to register for each talk/class you want to go to or am I misunderstanding what it's asking me to do. I always thought you just kind of showed up to these things and wandered around to what seemed interesting...

I'll be there. And you do have to register, a good number of the lectures have filled especially if it's a "hot" topic or has a nationally known lecturer.

Well that sucks. You can't even just go in and stand?
They don't have tickets or anything, but they use registration to try and gauge what size room to use. Yes, you can go stand in the back if you want. It isn't a movie theatre, and nobody will throw you out. I don't think the fire marshal will be there counting heads.

I live nearby. I'll be there off and on through the week and I'd be happy to get together with everyone else. I could suggest a nearby restaurant or bar if people can agree on a time and day.

Also, if you are interested in Colorado jobs it looks like a good year. Unlike many years, most of the groups in the area seem to by hiring. This includes my group. I'd be happy to give people a survey of the different groups in the area.

Wow there are job openings in Denver🙂 I will need to find you and talk

Im sure many may wish to maintain internet anonymity, but would some be interested in an SDN meet up?
well if enough of us show up, people won't know who's who and we should have a rule about asking background and personal info, that could be traced to statements on SDN

I might do a side trip up to Boulder, maybe Wednesday afternoon for a little hiking if anyone wants in.

I think a meet up would be fun, although if the event is going to be blinded to username that'd be weird. I'd much rather know user name and have no clue that GeneralVeers is really "Bob" then the converse. Also it takes the easiest ice-breaker and makes it rude.

I like your idea! Blind for the real names and meetup as sdn names ..... def would be able to keep it "spicier" :xf:

Except that EM isn't as big a world as you would think. So I bet many of the people there would know who the real person is, and finally click with the "oh, you're xxxxx!"
Either way, our usernames aren't as secret as many of you would like to believe.

Agreed. Personally not that concerned since a few years back I raised money for an anti-cancer campaign on SDN and totally revealed my name and face 😛

Maybe we should make into a guessing game!!! :meanie:

I think that it keeps the online discussion a lot better if you don't say anything here that you wouldn't want attributed to you in real life. That's why I'm not a big believer in online anonymity. I've occasionally gotten carried away here, but I do that sometimes in real life too 🙂

Ok, someone name a place and a time! (not Sunday night, since I already have a dinner then?)

Alternate Councillor here. Gotta schmooze, I guess. Will be there the 5-12th.
And not terribly anonymous - I never write anything I wouldn't want attributed back to me, as my user ID isn't really hard to figure out.

MudPhud, name a place!

Calling MudPhud! Your call man since you are from the area. I cant wake up in jail or in guam though, the wife would not approve.

What does everybody want? How late? 9:30pm on the 10th works well for me.

Cheap beer?

Local Brewery (was owned by our governor) with pool?

Trendy lounge with fancy drinks?

Dive bar?

Straight shot to the local Detox? FYI its known as "Denver CARES" and you definitely don't want to end up there.

I'm down for wherever, just name the place. I'm staying at the Grand Hyatt.

Though 80s night at a teenie bopper dance club i may not show up to. Otherwise whatever!

are you kidding? That sounds like me perfect party.

I heart the 80s.

I'm a wine drinker, but since I live in Florida, I indulge with drinks with little umbrellas in them. 😉 Since we'll have med students and residents, I daresay cheaper is better, and local brewery may be the best option.

Also staying at the Grand Hyatt. The 10th is the night of my residency's alum party, so I wouldn't be able to make it that night. But if that's better for our now-designated host, party on. 🙂

Where is the alum party? I can try to pick somewhere nearby.

Oops- brain fart - my party is the 9th, so I'll definitely be there the 10th!

i will try to make it as well... not sure when my residency's alumni function is yet.

8 Blocks away at the corner of 15th and Wazee is the Wazee Supper Club. They have cheap appetizers, good pizza(for Denver), $3 drafts (after 10pm). Meet there at 9:30pm on the 10th. If I get a firm head count I can try to reserve us a space, otherwise I'll just try to be the guy standing at the bar wearing a bike helmet(less chance of a DUI that way).

only there the 6th and 7th (leaving in the evening) so I guess I'll be cheering u guys on in thought only!

I'll try to stop by but that is the same night as the Fellows Convocation and Awards Dinner. I think it ends around 10ish.

The problem with SA is that there is never a 'good night'. 7th is NEMPAC party, 8th is EMF party, 9th is all the contract group parties, 10th is the fellow and awards dinner. Then usually people have alum parties. Its a week of one giant.. party!

Glad to be an EM Physician!

Anyone know how one gets an invitation to this event?
