Do residency programs provide and pay for ACLS and or ATLS training prior to starting their program? Should I get accredited now if I have the time rather than during residency orientation?
Don't waste your money. Your program will pay for it. Some programs, which aren't trauma heavy, don't even require you to take ATLS until your 2nd or 3rd year. If your program requires you to take it as an intern then they'll pay for it.
Ours paid for it - I also inquired about doing it ahead of time but was told that it wouldn't be paid for unless taken here (and the programs, especially ATLS, are expensive).
