Adcoms' Views on Scientific Publications

How do adcoms approach scientific publications in medical school applicants? Is there a preference for basic science publications over clinical trial papers? Do adcoms frown on lower-quality study designs (ie: Case Series, retrospective trials, etc.)? Are poster presentations also considered? I'd appreciate any advice you might have!
