Was wondering peoples thoughts on pursuing ACHD after general cards fellowship. I have started finding the pathophysiology so interesting, but doing an extra 2 years seems daunting.
How is the job market after ACHD? How is the salary? Is it worth doing 2 more years? I assume you'd have to stay at an academic center as well. Doesnt seem like the actual fellowship is too competative?

Thanks

1. Harder to find job
2. Likely less money
3. “Worth it” is subjective
4. Doubt the fellowship is competitive

I think it can still be a good job. There are a few community gigs. Can be under-the-radar and just do your thing. More intellectual than the typical nonsense seen in clinic. Usually a lot of time/staff for patient support. Beats waking up every third night for ER calls on Afib or coming in for STEMIs.
