I'm filling out my ERAS application and I came across a few programs that have no categorical spots but offer: "advanced training" or "physician only" spots.

What does this mean? Does advanced training mean that it's a residency program starting from PGY2 and requiring a prelim year? I've seen this on most of the military base residency programs for EM. Another question, does anything prevent me from applying to or obtaining a residency at a program on a military base (for ex. Fort Hood Darnall Army Community Hospital Program).

thanks

I would like to know the answer to this. I am applying to programs now and some programs offer both an advanced and a categorical program. What is the difference?
