My dad is a Physician at the local University where I am from. So I can attend that University's undergrad program and probably get into the Med school for free. However, I was thinking about going out of state to maybe Georgia Tech, and majoring in biomedical engineering. I think this curriculum will truly prepare me for Med School and will challenge me. I can go to Georgia Tech and then apply back to the Med School by where I am from. Or I can apply to the local dent school as well if I decide to go that route. However a concern of mine is that I will probably have a lower GPA out of Georgia Tech and I would have to apply "out of state".Should this be a concern?

Residency requirements vary by state, but 9 times out of 10 if you are under 21 and/or are a dependent come tax season then your domicile is that of your parents (meaning you'd still qualify for in-state classification for the sake of admissions/tuition).

With regards to attending a university with a parent medical school, I wouldn't worry too much about this. (Public) schools can legally only give preference to in-state applicants, not alumni of a particular school.
