For those of you who have interviewed at Kansas, what advice do you have on preparing for the interview(s)? Also, where do you recommend staying that is close to the medical center if possible? Please get back to me soon. Thanks!

also.......how long after the interviews does it take to get a decision back from the admissions committee?

there is a days inn on rainbow blvd. right across the street from the place the interviews are at. its really a laid back friendly interview. maybe read on the school so u can ask about the dual campus thing, if they feel their students are prepared for big city medicine, etc.
the tuition hike of 20% every yr for next 5 sux 🙁
they only accept a few early on, then put most on waitlist so they can review the entire pool at the end. if interviewed you have about a 50% chance according to that princeton book. last year i was on the bad end of that coin 🙁 hope it works this year lol

I just got done interviewing at KU today and thought I would share my experience.

The whole day was very RELAXED. After the interview you will not believe that you were stressed about the situation. You'll do alot of waiting. I think theres an hour wait inbetween your two interviews. Talk to the other applicants while your waiting. It reduces stress.

To prepare I would suggest going over your AMCAS application. Especially your personel statement and ECs. Having specfic examples or stories would definately be a good idea. And be sure to think about your answers before you say them. The only time they get aggresive is if they feel that you are giving random answers off the top of your head. I didn't have any ethical questions but from what I understand there is no right or wrong answer to them. However if you give an answer be ready to defend it. And be sure to stick to your guns.

As for hotels, I stayed at the Days Inn directly across the street. Keep in mind however that this is a "cheap" hotel. The beds are uncomfortable and you here all kinds of things going on at night (the walls are not sound proof and the Inn is right next to a busy street). If you have a 10:40 interview I would recommend staying at a hotel at the Plaza. You can get a room for cheap on Priceline.com. The Plaza is a very nice shopping/dining area taking up several blocks. Even if you don't stay there you definatley need to visit it.

Good luck and pm me if you have any more questions.

thanks danwsu for the info.....does the days inn have a shuttle that goes to the kansas city, missouri airport (MCI)? also, what times does your interview day end? i am trying to get back home for an early scholarship interview back home in california.......also, do you have any advice on cheap airfare and airport shuttle service? please respond when you can and thanks so much again.

I wouldn't know about a shuttle since I drove to KC. It's only 2 and a half hours from where I live. You may want to contact Peggy at KU for this information.
If you want cheap air line tickets try priceline.com. And if you do wind up staying at Days Inn be sure to mention that you are there for your interview. You get a discount if you do.
If you have a 7:40 interview then your day will be over around 2:00 with an optional tour that will last you until 3:45. If you have a 10:40 interview then then your day is over around 3:30 with an optional tour that will last until 4 or 5. Taking the tour has no bearing on your application so don't be hesistant to decline it if you are in a hurry.

Let me know if you need any other info.
