Advice on switching to Psychiatry

I am a PGY2 Anestheisa resident who wants to switch to psychiatry. I talked to my program late in the application cycle, so I didn’t start my application until all the interviews were full. My best bet for now is the SOAP.
Does anyone have any advice on making the switch? Or has anyone done it?

I am obviously open to PGY1 and PGY2 positions.

university of washington seattle holds a couple spots specifically for PGY2 transfers

If your home program has a psychiatry program that would be your best bet. After that networking to learn of open spots. Obviously you need to have a good reason too as to why you want to switch.

I met a resident who switched from anesthesiology into psychiatry at UCLA-Harbor. I believe they emailed all the PDs they could and it was serendipitous that a PGY2 psych resident was leaving for some reason. Just ask around.
