Wassup you guys I am feeling very discourage. Ok so I took A&P 1 and 2 (A&B grade) then I took intro to chem (A) then I took College Chem (D twice!!!). All these classes I took at a junior college. Only math I have under my belt is college algebra(B). Okay moving forward I started my semester at Temple(BioMajor) this past fall, all gen eds and I end up having a $3,000 balance after the semester so now im going back to the junior college smh because that balance is ridiculous. Basically I feel like i am at an impasse, I reallllllllllly want to go to medical school and i am really lost what to do. I want to go straight thru with this bio major but I am thinking about doing this accel. nursing program then transition into medical school. maybe best at this time. What are my chances taking either path; i would like to know you guys take on the path of doing accel. Nursing program to physical therapist. What advice do you have for the path u think is best?

Um, so you're asking if you should do nursing to med, or nursing to PT? Neither makes a ton of sense, honestly. If you're serious about finishing your bio degree, then do it and see how strong of an applicant you are for the programs you want.

If you want to go to med school, you need good grades, MCAT, extracurriculars, and shadowing.

Nursing can be quite competitive depending on where you want to go and what state you live in. You'll need solid grades, and clinical volunteering. Some accelerated programs require you to finish your bachelors first.

PT - do bio or EXSS major with a PT option so you get the pre-reqs. Then work on applying to a PT school. Don't need to do nursing first...

If I am totally off on what you're asking, sorry. Your post isn't totally coherent.

Okay sorry about the last post. So I really want to become a doctor but I am a bit discourage at this point. I took Anatomy and Physiology I & II and recieve an A & B letter grade for both classes. I also took intro to chem and recieved a B letter grade. Now here's the downer, I took college chem twice and recieved a D!! All these classes I took at a junior college. Moving forward I just finished my first semester at Temple University as a biology major. This fall semester I mainly took gen education classes and college alegebra. I am going back to the junior college this upcoming semester because I cannot afford Temple tuition. I would like to know my chances up and til this point. All advice are appreciated.

P.S. I have all the requirments to do this nursing program starting fall 2016, should i do nursing as a stepping stone to med school because of my financial situation?

What is your GPA? Have you been accepted to a nursing program or are you hoping to get into one? Have you shadowed docs? I doubt anyone can predict your chances for anything now. In fact I'm not really sure what chances you want us to predict. Med School or Nursing school?

My gpa after this Temple semester is 3.1
And i am hoping to get into a nursing program and then med school. Will that be a good path to take at this point? I never shadowed a doc

I basically want to know do I still have a chance to get into medical school after recieving a D letter grade twice in college chemistry. Also if I do still have a chance do you think going to an accelerated nursing program and then medical school would be a good idea since I am having financial problems? (Basically I'll essentially work as a BSN RN while finishing my medical school pre-reqs.)

After the college chem classes my gpa was 2.7 going into Temple, since i transferred from a junior college to Temple gpa start over..moving forward after my first semester in Temple my gpa is now 3.3
All classes will count in your AMCAS GPA, so while it is great to show an upward trend, you will have to contend with those Ds in Chemistry.
You can become a doctor after working as a BSN RN. Of course, you may find it easier to just become an NP. Retake the pre-reqs later in a post-bacc, get stellar grades from here on out, work as a nurse, volunteer outside of clinical work and apply. DO may be better for you due to grade replacement, but a string upward trend can be rewarded.

If you can bring your GPA up, then yes, you have a chance. But keep in mind that medical schools will look at ALL of your coursework in determining your GPA, including your grades at junior college. A 3.1 is pretty low. The average GPA for people accepted to MD school is 3.7. A bit lower for DO but I wouldn't be surprised if it increases over the next few years.

It's not impossible to go MD/DO after nursing. Just keep in mind that if you're planning to work while completing your prereqs, you'll probably need to take it pretty slow with your courseload. Med school prereqs can be very demanding on top of work and you can't afford to do poorly in these classes.

Take a look at the nontrad forum here for some stories of current nurses applying to med school.
