I have been accepted to an Israeli medical school and I don't particularily want to go, since I think I have what it takes to be admitted here. My parents want me to go to that medical school and to reapply in the US for 2009, saying that I took a year off traveling. I think this is dishonest and won't work. What do you guys think about this?

Israeli, not Lebanese, right? Not the American University of Beirut?

that's tough. I dunno. the experience would be amazing, I think, but being dishonest about what you were doing would make me uncomfortable.

that sounds kinda shady to me. i would rather beef up my app and work/volunteer in the meantime than spend money and effort being half-serious about an international program.

plus, it would be costly and difficult to fly from israel for interviews.
