AEGD at dental schools? Good or bad

Do AEGD programs that are located at actual dental schools provide a worthwhile experience? My reasoning is that these schools typically have other specialties co-existing with the AEGD program and will ultimately take away great cases from the AEGD residents. Would it be better to either pursue hospital based GPRs or AEGD programs at VA hospitals instead? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.
