Andrew,

With your interest in ocular pathology, have you heard of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology course "Ocular Pathology for Ophthalmologists" that is offered each Sept? If so, do you know anyone who has attended or have any insight into the value of the course. I am currently doing my transitional year before starting ophtho next year and have conference time available to attend this course. $850 tuition is pretty steep though. I would love to find anyone with further info. Thanks.

I've heard that's a great course from several who've taken it. Particularly if your training program does not have a staff ocular pathologist. We're lucky here at Iowa to have a strong history of ocular pathology, and I don't think an external course would add much to our training at Iowa.

Additionally, I think you'd get more out of the course during your ophthalmology training compared to taking it during your transitional year.

Good luck!

Just got back from AFIP course.

It was great. Actually a ton of clinical information. The entire lecture series highly stressed clinicopathologic correlations.

Easily worth the money.
