Afraid to check your mailbox thread

I have reached the point where I don't look forward to checking my mail. Seeing all these countdown threads for my old top choice schools scares me, since all I could find in my mailbox at this point is a pre-interview rejection. It's too early to get something post-interview (except for 1 school), so I think I'll just stay away from the evil mail room for a little while. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

So who's with me on this? I don't want pity, I wanna hear complaints! Vent to me people! <img border="0" alt="[Pity]" title="" src="graemlins/pity.gif" />

I don't even check my mailbox anymore. I have about heard from all the schools except for SUNY stonybrook.

I am not expecting anything from those who rejected me and those who waitlisted me. It's too soon to hear from my last interview.

I just made the prepetual mistake of checking my mail box. There it was -my post-interview rejection from Maryland. This is bad. So, I will be hiting the books as soon as my spring break is over and start studying for the MCAT; this should keep me jolly for a while.
Anyhow, I have one last interview in april at Finch and I will have to go to that one.
Good luck everybody who is still waiting on their decisions..

How come you didn't hear from them?!

You have to admit, there is something very fun in this whole applications process... The thrill of waiting and surprises up the kazoo <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> is just overwhelming!

It's Spring break for me and I haven't checked my mailbox in 6 days or so. I am wondering how many pre-interview rejections are in there.......I'm guessing a lot.... We'll see when I head back!

Hey j2001 keep ya head up! I'm sorry to hear about Maryland....but I think Finch accepts 70% of their interviewees so you have a good shot.

When exactly will you be there? I'll be there on April 3rd to interview.

And just wondering, when would you retake the mcat and reapply? Because I may be in that situation, and lately I'm thinking about taking the August mcat and applying late again for the next cycle, since i don't want to take 2 years off.

But really, don't worry about it too much yet since you still have that finch intevriew coming up! Best of luck to you!

Wasn't afraid of the MB until today...opened it up to find a BIG, 9X12 MANILA ENVELOPE WITH MY NAME ON A WHITE ADDRESS LABEL...with heart pounding in throat, I pull it out to see that its a renewal form for my Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance. How f-ing ironic... Now I've got the shakes so bad, I don't think I can go through it again, and again, and again. Well, at least it wasn't a reject...

how about opening the mailbox and inside there is a large 9 x 12 envelope with my name on it. I slowly pulled the envelope out to look at the return address. It was from finch!!! They had rejected me pre-interview a few weeks earlier.

When I opened it, I found that it was info on their podiatric medicine program.

I'm still waiting to hear post-interview decisions from my top 5 choices!!! Most of my fellow premeds know where they'll end up next year and are having a blast during this spring break week, and here am I, reading SDN looking for people to commiserate and checking my mailbox every few hours. (Why did I turn my AMCAS in in late August? Why, why, why...? )

I know how you feel Cdc, I turned my AMCAS in Oct 3rd . This sux, I'm on Spring Break next week but have to go on intevriews that shoud have happened months ago if I hadn't procrastinated so much. But as of now, I still fear my mailbox. I checked it today anyway, but it was completely empty. Now I can't check it til Monday, and after that, not for a whole week! On the other hand, after every time I have gone away I have always gotten something good from med schools, so I'm excited.

For those who turned in your app "late", don't beat yourself up. This year was the best year to do that. I had mine in ASAP and it wasn't verified until September anyway.

Just get it in early if you are reapplying and remember, it's not over yet. Keep the positive thinking going (or start it ).
