Aircraft Medical Director

Hey all.

Have the opportunity to be a medical director of a private, fixed wing, medical transport company.

Think they want someone to do QA/I, maybe once a weeks, or a few times per month, and also do some training.

Anyone know what the going salary would be for something like this?
What should I expect as far as $$$.

Are they providing your malpractice insurance? How many flights/year do they do, and in general, what is their acuity (lots of vented patients)? How are the flights staffed (RN, medic, combinations, etc.)?

Yes, they will provide Malpractice.

They do about 40 flights per Month.
Most are international.
Some low acuity, more high.

Staffed with RN and medic or another RN.
Sometimes a doc, if requested by a certain country.

Are you reviewing every run report? What kind of education are you expected to provide in terms of lectures, hand outs, etc.

i would imagine if you look at an ALS EMS Agency see what their directors get paid and should be somewhere about there. They do less runs/mo but the transports are much longer thus more time for something to go wrong. I think near NYC those jobs go for about 80k/yr for about 10,000 runs/yr bigger cities and agencies may pay more.
