Does anyone know what the deal is with the Alameda County Transitional Year? It appears they have changed it to a pre-lim year on the website. I had heard this was really good TY to do, anyone know how the pre-lim compares?

On the same subject, any other suggestions for cush TYs/pre-lims? I'm a competitive applicant going into derm trying to figure out what internships to apply to. I'm in California right now and enjoy the area, but would not be adverse to programs elsewhere depending on their schedule. Right now all I have is Scripps Mercy, U Hawaii, Harbor/UCLA, and Santa Barbara Cottage Pre-lim. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

St. Mary (Long Beach); Huntington Memorial Hospital (Pasadena); Oliveview (UCLA)

I hear U hawaii trannyu has enough Q2 surgery call to make it less than awesome.

Dude, Alameda county was the worst prelim by far I went to. The one shining month is your pure elective month where you can do whatever the hell you want, other than that those interns looked pretty miserable. Plus, you'll probably get mugged getting in to preround.

Look into Kern TY, Santa Clara Valley, possibly Arrowhead. I hear UH is rough, but hey, it's Hawaii...

Akron General in OH, Riverside in VA, Carillon Clinic in VA, Reading Hospital in PA all have some of the easiest schedules out there.

Anyone want to debate the fact that "really good" and "cush" tend to be mutually exclusive?
