I was looking through the school pages on Pharmcas and ACP doesn't require PCATs, no rec letters necessary, and there is no interview? 😕Just a hefty supplemental fee of $100. Does anyone have any information on this school?

From the reputation it has gained on this board, this is strictly a GPA based school when it comes to granting interviews. They want the "smartest" applicants for their class and only those who can live up to their undergrad GPA can do well in their program.

It's also a very demanding program compared to some other programs in the USA but I'm sure they do churn out some great pharmacists (at least ones that know a lot).

Don't waste your money applying to this school, I did and what a waste it was even though I had a pretty good GPA.

I called them and they said that for the incoming class this year the average gpa was 3.9. CRAZY!!!

wooo guys u guys gave me some hints.....i am about to apply to this school and my G.P.A is 3.52 and graduate GPA is 4.05...i think i should not appply to this school wasting my money.

What should you do if your gpa is 3.75😕 Would you still apply to this school??

Call them and ask them what r your chances. But then again they might lie to you. My gpa is 3.5 and they told me to apply. So I don't know... If you want to go to a school in NY, there is another school opening in NYC. (Touro University)

Yeah that's a good idea.........I should also look into to TOURO too. Is this university application is also through pharmcas too???

Don't be so naive.

I got into ACP with a 94 average (out of 100). i was 5th in a class of 92. i applied early decision, though, so my chances of getting in were better. It's definetly worth a shot to try. ACP is ranked #1 in the country for pharmacy and you have 100% placement without having to take the pcats. Trust me, ACP is an amazing school, it is worth every penny.

ACP is #1 alphabetically, but you won't find it in the top program rankings. UC, Kentucky, Texas are the top programs.

Avoid this school at all costs. This school is not diverse and the clinical preceptors don't know how to teach, but like to intimidate students with their "experiences". Watch out for Shannon Miller and Marciniak and Cerulli!

You know why the avg. GPA is so high?.....

....Because it's a 0-6 program normally.

Of course they'd only have a few transfer spots open for 3rd year and up, just to replace the failouts. That's nothing out of the ordinary. Some 0-6 programs don't accept transfers at all, while most other ones do it on an extremely limited basis.

You're REALLY showing some maturity here. Let me guess...you couldn't make it through the program, so you're whining. Boo Hoo.

You are wrong about diversity. My class had international students, african americans, even native americans (mohawks).

Namecalling is soo classy!

My friend was accepted here with a 3.93 gpa from Purdue University, no interview was needed. In order to matriculate though they wanted him to redo Organic 1&2, anatomy 1&2, micro, and physics lectures only from their school. Still pretty lame in my opinion.

Touro University for PharmMD is opening in NY? When?

hughqn... your embrassing yourself. As for acp being number one? hardly... but it is a good school if you do make it through the program and don't cheat to do sooo... unlike *cough* various groups of students... then you should be great as compared to some other colleges.

I can tell you that ACP dominates NY, Pharmacy positions. But if you are looking for a school that you will love and cherish, value, and enjoy... acp isnt the school.

food for the though

I agree, I have no idea where that #1 ranking came from. Sure they're naplex passing rates, average entrance gpas might be high - but being a good pharmacist isnt just having the grades or knowledge. The best pharmacists I have met are the ones who converse well with the public, and I can tell you that not requiring interviews will severly hurt them in that department.

Anything to do with Albany sucks. Albany is not a representation of New York at all.

If you're someone from another country, who has never been to the U.S., when you think of New York, you think New York City.

New York City should be the capital of New York and the capital of the U.S., not ****ing Albany or ****ing Washington D.C.

Yeah, good 'ol "Smallbany"! Albany is pretty boring as far as capitals go.

You know, there are some of us from upstate that wish we could give NYC to the Russians...😀

Hey, personally I think that NYC along with the suburbs to the north and nassau/suffolk counties to the east should secede from New York State and form their own state.

It would be called Greater New York. Without NYC, New York's economy is nothing. I'm sick of how public schools in NYC don't get more funding than public schools in upstate.

I understand that, but 0-6 programs usually expect their class size to be smaller by year 3 (it's all a big strategy to get money while keep one's reputation), so why would they want to replace all of them? At my school, the failouts don't get replaced at all (and I'm glad, because I wouldn't want classes of 300-350...250-275 is already high enough, but I figure once class size gets over 100, it doesn't matter how big it is).

Albany is really a crappy place to live, but it's better than the Deep South!

Can't disagree with you there.

The weather is MUCH better, though...:meanie:

Why do you think New York State's law book is so thick? Three words...New York City!

I disagree...NYC drags NY state's economy down as much as any upstate area. The real issue is the high tax rates we ALL pay! No wonder businesses are relocating and people are moving away...

I agree that NYC (and suburbs) should secede and form their own "state".
