What is the best way to get to Albany from the west coast? I imagine it's flying into NY, then taking a charter flight to Albany. How feasible is it to drive to Albany? Time to hit up Mapquest.

Also, has anyone noticed that last year Albany admitted someone with a verbal score of a 2? I think you get a 2 by showing up at the testing center.

Mapquest says 2 hours, 45 minutes. What is it really though? Closer to 4 hours?

Why not fly directly to Albany (of course you'll probably go through a hub)? Unless the price difference is very high, I wouldn't recommend driving to Albany at $3/gallon.

BTW - when were you complete and when did Albany give you an interview?

Yea, I can go directly to Albany. Total time from San Francisco to Albany is almost 10+ hours. It's murder applying to med schools from California. Most of the schools are concentrated in the midwest and east.

So my deelemma. I have the option of interviewing early at Albany, within the next couple of weeks. But their interview times for the next month are 11:15 - 5:00 PM. Which means that I take the entire previous day off for travel, then I don't return to San Francisco till extremely late on the following day (like 1:00 AM).

Or, I wait till mid november and interview in the morning, and I'll get back to SF at a nice time.

How important is it to interview as soon as possible? Are interviewers put at a disadvantage interviewing late? I guess Albany is on rolling admissions, so that might answer my question. Any suggestions?

Albany will not be sending out their first batch of acceptances until the end of November. They just started interviewing, so you should be fine. I would probably say fly into Albany, stay w/a student overnight if you have to so you don't have to pay for a hotel room and then fly out when you're done. If you have a tight connection the admissions office tries to interview those people first. You either have one or two interviews. I had two interviews and I was done by 3pm, so you may be able to make a flight back if you let the admissions office know what timeframe you're working with.
