Just got an email that they are about to make their WL, which should be finalized by the end of next week. Get your LOI and phone calls in.

thanks for posting this!

i'm in the "under consideration" pool right now, but i didn't get an email that they're putting together the alternate list... hmm...
not sure that it's a good sign for me.

when did you interview at AMC?

Interviewed in Feb, I thought "under consideration" meant waitlist. Silly me.

I did not receive any email about this, I had to call them (checking on my WL rank!). I think it is kind of cheesy, using that sort of language ( "under consideration") and not making clear that it isn't really a WL.

yeah, i agree... using "under consideration" is a bit of a tease, don't you think? apparently the WL tends to move pretty well at Albany, but i'm not sure how big it is. i know schools with 300 people on the their WL and others with 80, so i'm not sure what to think at this point.

i interviewed May 1 and got my "UC" email one week later. i sent my letter of interest on May 14... hmmm... i guess, the plot thickens.

guess i'll call on tuesday and see what they say.
good luck to all!

I have also been placed on the UC category at AMC.

Does anyone know how many people from the still under consideration category make it to the waiting list??

Thanks.😕

Sorry, I got that email after I wrote my interviewer a LOI. So don't worry, it is not a general email.

yikes! i thought that "under consideration" was the waitlist. so there is a chance we can still be rejected? that's not cool at all.

I'm really curious and was just wondering what kind of stats you guys have in terms of gpa and mcat. Thanks alot.

i have no clue how many kids they waitlist... they wouldn't tell me when i asked, point blank. but unfortunately, yes, there is a chance that one can get rejected after being put in the "under consideration" pool.

but hopefully, that won't happen to any of us! 😀

the admissions office at albany. everyone in the UC pool will be getting an email at the end of this week informing them of their updated status.

when i called just now, they were able to tell me my status over the phone, but they haven't made decisions on everyone's files yet.

(as an aside, i am on the alternate list! yay! please consider it a good omen for all those waiting for Albany on this thread!)

Does anyone know the stats on how many people got accepted off the WL at AMC? I remember hearing during my interview that they go pretty deep into their WL and sometimes beyond it. Can anyone confirm this?

i heard the same thing (meaning, that they go pretty deep into their WL) at my interview. but as for numbers, AMC is not confirming ANYthing... i was not able to get a %age on how many kids, on average, get off their WL.

i guess they keep this type of info pretty much under wraps.

on the upside...if you can get rejected from the UC group....can you get a happyhappy email that says you've been ACCEPTED? ah ha! that for sure would brighten my day.

Hi guys,

I just called Albany and the person who answered said that 2 years ago they almost exhausted their waitlist, but last year they didn't go into it that extensively. Let's hope it's a repeat of 2 years ago this time around! She also told me that we'd get an email at the end of this week telling us if we're on the waitlist.

Shreebee

did anybody get an email from Albany yet? they said end of the week... my feeling is that thursday can be considered "end"ish, no?

Thanks trubluwolv for the good omen.

I received an email this morning from Albany stating that I too am on the alternate list.

Did they really, in past years, nearly exhaust their list???😱 That`s encouraging news for all of us!!

Good luck to all who haven`t heard yet.

great news, mcgill sweetie!!
maybe we'll end up being classmates this fall! are you committed to another school right now or sitting pretty on WLs like me?

looks like albany held up their end of the bargain--emails sent today, at the end of this week.

how's everyone else doing?

LIke you trubluwolv, I am sitting pretty on 3 other waiting lists in Canada.

I hate waiting!😕

Yeah, being in the same class at AMC in the fall would be a treat!

Got my e-mail. Made the waitlist.

Hard to feel much of a sense of accomplishment when I had thought I was on the darn thing all along!

I got the email yesterday too...

no news here. i haven't called the admissions office this week so i don't know if they've moved anyone off the WL at Albany.

anyone else here of any mvmt?

I got the email, and was on the waitlist, but decided to withdraw. Hopefully that makes the list smaller and gives you a better shot! Good luck everyone!

just now to confirm that they received my alternate response form.

they said that currently, the class is slightly overbooked 🙁 .
but that's typical of their program at this time of year. after June 9, they'll clean up their list and have a better idea of what's going on.

cheers to another week of waiting!!!
it's another week with new prospects...

how's everyone? any news?

Hello-

Out of curiosity, isn't the annual tuition of $38,000 unappealing to anyone?

I'm not sure why anyone who has an acceptance elsewhere would want to attend a school that costs that much.

Is there something else about the school that appeals to you?

Thanks

i wish i had a choice but i'm on 3 WLs w/ 0 acceptances so i'm going to go wherever i get in, regardless of tuition. i'll be taking out loans from the feds and the 'rents.

specific to Albany, i really liked the supportive environment and the theme-based curriculum. the faculty seems to really care about their students are there because they love to teach.
the students, overall, seemed really happy and said that the only drawback was the $$$. at least the cost of living is really low in albany. and city of albany is not that bad either.

what's the good word, people?

I received an acceptance from Albany this morning, by e-mail, so the waitlist is moving. I won't be attending so hopefully someone else will be hearing good news soon. Best of luck!

ditto. i got the same email acceptance... and i actually think that i'm going to go to albany and withdraw from the school i thought i was gonna wind up at...

wooo!

congrats to both ktm and emtji!!! great news!

ktm--out of curiosity, where are you going instead?

emtiji--congrats! where are you withdrawing from?

i spoke to Dean Kremer earlier this week, and she told me that my prospects look "optimistic" so i'm still waiting patiently!!!
good luck to all!!

:

i'm withdrawing from drexel, in all probability. i wanna make a quick decision so as to free up a spot for everyone else.

location aside, drexel is just too big.... and while albany is much more expensive, i think it's worth it in the end.

thanks! 🙂

Last Friday, I received an email from Ms. Kremer stating that I was accepted at Albany!

After two years of being on waiting lists, I am finally in....

Good luck to all those who are in anticipation for good news! I suspect the waiting list will go far considering the amount of recent applicants turning down Albany.

Emtji, what were your reasons for choosing albany?

Mcgillsweetie

Congratulations mcgillsweetie and emtji! I'm sure you'll love it at Albany.

trubluwolv: I've decided to go to University of Manitoba (Canada) instead. Hopefully you will be hearing good news soon.

congrats mcgillsweetie!!! that's fantastic news! at the end of the day, persistence pays off! clap:

great to see so much movement on the Albany WL... keep those decisions coming! i would love to be the next to join mcgillsweetie & emtji... 😉

i think i'm officially neurotic--this waiting is tearing me apart!
any news from albany?

I will be withdrawing from my acceptance at albany MEd next week. I decided to go to a school closer to home...

Trubluwolv, hopefully the spot goes to you.

Mcgillsweetie

where r u going to school?

thanks for thinking of me, mcgillsweetie! i hope it comes to me as well!

what happened? did you get a better offer somewhere else?
if so, i'm sending big congrats your way!!!

any news from albany lately?
Dean Kremer was out of town last week, but is back today to make more offers *hopefully*.

Yeah,
I received another accpetance at a French University in Quebec.

It was a hard decision to make, but in the end, it came down to paying a $39,000 U.S tuition 😱 (which translates into $60,000 CDN) at Albany versus $4,000 CDN at Universite Laval...😍

Trubluwolv, how are your other waiting lists going?

mcgillsweetie

wow, mcgillsweetie--that's a sweet deal!!! plus quebec is a beautiful city! and from what i hear from my canuck friends, it is virtually impossible to get into canadian med schools because of province stipulations and limited number of spaces.
good for you!!!

congrats again, paramed2premed, on getting in!

as for me, am still waiting on all of my WLs. it looks as though UMich is slim to none. Albany looks like its moving slightly, as does MCO--but it's truly coming down to the wire at this point. (or at least, that's how i feel!) form what i can tell i have at least 8-9 people ahead of me on the MCO list, and i have no clue about Albany. i'll probably get more info about Albany at the end of next week.

it's going to be a close call, but i'm keeping faith alive over here!
😀

Do that.

Also, it helps if you have not completed a FAFSA, have only 1 month to move your whole life, and threw away all your Albany papers and resources in a pique over getting waitlisted!

I hope that you also have the chance to undergo this mad scramble!

haha
am looking forward to it, and welcome the challenge!

good luck finding housing tomorrow, Brooks!!!
if you get frustrated or stressed, just remember that at the end of the day, it's all because you're GOING TO MED SCHOOL!!!!
wooo hooooo!!!

trubluwolv,

so does that mean that they've finally taken you off the waitlist?

emtji--
wish that were the case, but no...
i was just admiring paramed2premed situation and hoping that i find myself there very soon!

but what i will tell you is that yesterday night, i was at my mailbox, and i received a rather large envelope from albany med. i started to hyperventilate... went up to my apartment, and stared at the envelope for, i shi$t you not, almost 10 minutes. praying. breathing. keeping calm.

i opened it and you know what it was?

it was info about getting a physical and all vaccinations/shots updates! info sent to all WL candidates in the event that we get in at the last minute, they are sending this info to us early so that we can plan accordingly. because we wouldn't be able to register for classes without the appropriate medical info on record.

while i know that albany was emailing, not sending letters, i still thought maybe, just maybe, there was a shot......

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS????? IT WAS THE BIGGEST MINDFU*K EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! i still can't believe it....

awright, finally got if off my chest.

cheers to everyone--enjoy your day! 😎 😎 😎

I dropped by the admission office on 7/30 to sign papers and such. I asked, for the sake of waitlisters on SDN, how far down the WL they were going.

She didn't answer in terms of quartile, but said that it was definitely "slowing down." She did not seem to expect too much more movement, based on the fact that students are already matriculating at schools that start earlier.

Thankfully, she did not say "that's it, you were the last!" That would be a hope-killer for SDN-ers, and make me feel like the fat kid who always got picked last for the dodgeball teams.

hola kids!
thx for inquiring about waitlist movement at the Admissions office, paramed2premed! i appreciate you looking out for those still on the WL. you rock!

fyi for those waiting (even though i feel like the only one!!!)--just called them and they gave out a few accepts and peeps have a week to decide.

questions for those accepted: when is the first day of orientation? and the first day of classes?

cheers!
sp 😎

First day orientation: Aug 27th. I don't know about classes.

Keep your bags packed in case they call on the 26th!
