As I mentioned in my previous thread, I am entering my last year of high school and I am considering taking a premed program at a US college. I am just wondering what the entrance requirements are for these programs (would I have to take any tests other than the SAT's)?

Also, if there is anyone here who lived in Alberta for high school, I would appreciate it if you could tell me everything I need to be accepted into one of these program.

Thanks

Here's how it works. As a Canadian student myself, I know how the US system works. First of all, don't worry about getting into a "pre-med" program. While there may be slight differences, the majority of US colleges do now have special requirements to enter a certain degree plan. All you have to worry about it gaining acceptance to the US university of your choice.

To do this, you must write your SAT and do well on it, shoot for anything over 1100, that isn't going to get you into Stanford, but it will give you a pretty good shot at many US schools. You then follow that admission requirements and apply for admission to a US school. Once you have been admitted, then you choose your major (degree plan).

Many schools don't have a "pre-med" major, and many medicals school applicants major is things like political science, english or music. Choose a major that you enjoy, it can me any major, and do well in it. Get involved with you school, at local hospitals, just explore and have fun.

To sum things up, to get into a US college, write the SAT, and then apply to some schools that are in your stat range.
