I'm a third year at UC Davis and I feel like everyone surrounding me in the "PREMED" world at my school is totally above me. Here are my stats thus far:
GPA: 3.56
SGPA: ~3.4
MCAT: taking in Aug.
EC: Captain of UC Davis soccer team, health sciences peer advisor, volunteering at ER, shadowing a DO, shadowed 2 chiros, art minor, worked for an underpriveleged high school biology program.
Can anyone give me an idea of some osteo schools I might get in to... let's say I get somewhere like a 27 on the MCAT. I know I'm being paranoid, but what person enduring the 4 year long wait to get into med school isn't??
Thanks

Any of them. You've got some pretty good numbers and you'll probably do better than 27 on the MCAT. You'll get in...no problem

Apply to them all....I just graduated nycom and i had a 26 on the MCAT. MCATS are important and so is GPA but I know for a fact NYCOM looks at the whole application and the interview can help to get you over the top. I know fellow classmates with similar #'s and they graduated and got into really strong residency programs....The most important thing is to be tenacious and do not give up if this is what you really want to do with your future.....Good luck and if can help in any way let me know.

I went to UC Davis as well, and my stats were considerably lower than yours. However, I did well on the MCATs and had to enroll in a special master's program to improve the blunder that I fondly like to call the "junior college years" ! Anyway, the important thing is that I got in after all! YAY!!!
So can you.......don't lose hope. Ever!

Don't stress out too much. Your stats are okay, so focus on the MCAT and do great on it. I had similar stats with a lot of EC and I only applied to One DO school and was accepted. So keep hope alive.
GOOD LUCK

I felt the same way you do when I was applying to medical school. My main word of advice is DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR FELLOW PRE-MEDS! I stressed myself out entirely too much when I was applying to medical school because I was worried about myself getting in and I was comparing myself to my classmates and making myself feel worse about my own chances of getting in. Your grades are great for DO schools - I'm sure you'll do fine. And about the MCATs - as has been noted on many posts before, DO schools look at more than just grades and test scores...so even if you do badly DO schools will take all of the other aspects of your application as well.
Good luck, and don't stress out about your fellow pre-meds!
