AMCAS before MCAT?

If you take the April MCAT, do your scores get released before the earliest date you can submit your AMCAS application? I think I remember reading that it takes 2 months for your score to be released (putting it up to ~June 22) and that you can submit your AMCAS on June 1. I want to apply as early as possible, but I also dont want to spend 100's of dollars applying to schools that I find out later I'm not competitive at based on my MCAT score [or find out that I could have applied to better schools... to look on the bright side]. Can someone please let me know if im right or wrong? Thanks
