When applying, do schools get course title and description? Or just titles and you send description to AMCAS only if you need to dispute a categorization of a class?

They get the official course name only.

ex. Bio 101: introductory ecology and evolutionary biology
Bio 102: introductory cellular and molecular biology

So depending on the official course title, they may be able to tell what its about. I do remember there were a few courses of mine (usually non-science) where you couldn't really tell what it was about.. oh well.

I didn't have to dispute a course categorization, so I'm not quite sure how that would work.

I disputed a categorization. You send the link to the online place where your school posts the description for that specific course. Super fast turnaround on the dispute too :)
