Amcas for 07

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The worksheet probably comes out at the very beginning of May, and you can submit on June 1. The AMCAS application is the same every year basically. Courses, 14 slots of awards/EC, personal statement. Good luck!

it's actually been up for a while

Sorry if this sounds stupid but...can anyone post the exact "prompt" for the personal statement? exact description, with word/character limit, etc.

TIA

I thought it was 15. Is it 14 or 15?

It is? I couldn't find it. I could just find the one for the 2006 class.
Nahh, the one for entering class 2007 is not up yet. The other poster was mistaken.

And yes, 15 spots for EC's.

"Use the space provided to explain why you want to go to medical school. The available space for your response is 5300 characters, or approximately one full page. You will receive an error message if you exceed the available space. For additional assistance, click "help" on the tool bar at the top of the screen."

Weird. I just logged in to my app to copy and paste that, but I could've sworn my prompt was much more vague, something like "Use the space to tell the schools any other info you wish to include." Maybe it changed?

Does it work like this?:

You list an EC then classify it according to their categories (work, pubs, volunteer, etc) and you get 15 of those or is there a set number for each category?

I hope that makes sense.

Yes, you can put down 15 of all military experience (or anything else) if you wanted.

Do people usually try to fill up all 15, even if only a few are real, substantial ECs? Do things done during the summer and jobs count?

I only put the important ones and I barely wrote anything about each one. In retrospect I probably should have elaborated more, but I do think it's wise only to put ECs which are truly meaningful/relevent.

OMG, the new application cycle will begin in 2 months. Amazing, to think how much have changed in 10 months.
