I go to an ivy where gpa is calculated on a 1 credit and .5 credit basis. But I'm going to take summer courses at universities that work on a 3 credit basis. I understand that AMCAS calculates our gpa based on all of our summer courses. But like, how?

I believe AMCAS will convert all credit units to semester hours, based on instructions attached to the transcripts of every school. Look at your school's transcript to see what the semester hour equivalent is.
