Ok, i looked at my "final verified" application, and my overall GPA went down by .06 points, but science went up by .03. I was wondering whether AMCAS started classifying physics and math as "social sciences" :D :D I mean, if they did not change course classification, how come the GPA breakdown is different?
Is that a big deal?
Also, I had a couple of B+ and AMCAS changed them to a grade of AB. What the hell? and this resulted in a lower non-science GPA

If AMCAS was at all competent, I'd say contact them, but this year...you do so at your own risk. Having them change it to AB is a whole lot better than C! Personally, they left all my grades alone, but changed how I designated what year (soph/junior) I took them.

I got ya beat. My science GPA stayed the same, but my overall GPA went down .09--almost a whole point! That's because I have two grades (from a LONG time ago) bracketed because both classes were later repeated for A's. But I guess AMCAS doesn't recognize bracketed grades! Bummer for me.

If a student had all grades of AB grade (s)he would have a 3.5, B+ 3.3, A- 3.7. You get the picture. I think the AB thing is in place for schools like mine that don't use the +/- system.

Up unitl this year our school graded A = 4.0 B+= 3.5. They changed it to the +/- system to combat grade inflation. They failed. Kids who would have gotten B+ mostly now get A-. 3.5 v. 3.7. That's just an aside.

I win hands down.....they deleted the course hours from one of my graduate courses (of course I happened to have an A in this course) so it was not included in my GPA calculation...it brought me down almost 0.2! I contacted them and guess what they said.....oh in about 2 weeks we will get right on it!

If you feel the decrease is significant....I would write each school!
