It will probably turn out the same as your normal GPA. Unless you failed a class and retook it and your undergrad replaced it. AMCAS counts all grades even if your undergrad replaces them...if that helps at all. What is the grading scale at your school? A+, A, A-, ect?

If your school uses A AB B BC C D grading scale your AMCAS GPA will be lower because it will count an AB as B+

Don't forget, if you have taken ANY college courses anywhere else (even the colleg courses you may have taken in high school), these grades are also figured into your GPA. That is why you will have to have a transcript from each and every place you have ever attended. If you have only gone one place your job will be easier figureing out the gpa like the previous poster said it will be your actual gpa or slightly lower on the A+, A-...scale.

Hooray, this is my 400th post. Wow I run my mouth alot.

Does anyone know how a pass/fail grade is calculated into AMCAS?

A pass/fail course is listed but it does not factor in the GPA.

if you did an EMT class through a community college AFTER graduation, should you be sending the transcripts in for the EMT class with your Univ transcript? Does that class factor into your GPA?

I also found out if I can use this class on my school transcript (be added in) and they gave me an emphatic 'NO!' Why? b/c technical courses do not count on academic transcripts! That's a whole 8 credits worth of 4.0 gone down the drain.

Tweetie,
I would say you need to include your EMT transcript. I transfered from cc to a university and the university did not accept my credits because they do not have a category for those credits to fulfill. However, AMCAS wants all of your classes documented. Amcas verified them and used the grades in their calculation of GPA.
Hope this helps.

yayy! thanks for the info P6. I was hoping those 8 credits would count for SOMETHING! I hope AMCAS looks at my grade in my EMT class as something that was well earned, and calculates it in the mix too. Wow, I can just see my GPA finally have a few stars next to it.

AMCAS even takes your high school grades into consideration? I took a AP class and did not do that good in it. This class did not count for any college credit because I didn't score high enough on the exam, will it still be averaged into my application? I sure hope not...

I took some classes at a cc during high school and during one of the summers in college. Also, after I graduated from college, I took like a photography and art classe at another cc. Does AMCAS want transcripts for all these classes (even if they have nothing to do with medicine?)

Geoff,

If you didn't receive college credit for the courses, then AMCAS doesn't care.

Janet,

If you received college credit for the courses, then they have to be reported to AMCAS. Many college courses don't have anything to do with medicine (i.e. Art, Theatre, etc) but if it's college credit it has to be reported.

It's pretty simple really. You have to report all college credit you have. Simple, huh?

sorry for the delay...my school does not give A+'s... here's another issue: what about courses taken at a university abroad? Only the credits - not the grades - were considered by my university. It is impossible to get a transcript sent from the foreign school - they won't do it. However, my school has an official copy on file which I can request (I hope) to be sent along with my transcript. That will have to suffice. Anyone else have a similar experience?
