If you retook a course do both grades have to be included on the amcas application. I am applying next year and would like to know

thanks

yup. Both grades have to be included. Carefully read all instructions before submitting

oh what i meant is do both grades count towards you amcas gpa?
thanks

oh...

I think that they both count. AMCAS calculates a Gpa for you once you enter all of your courses. Since you are entering both courses, I think the GPA calculator will reflect this fact.

yup, any class you ever took for undergrad counts toward your gpa

so if u took for example a 4 credit course and got a c- and retook it and got an A somehow amcas will account for both grades in your gpa??

Does anybody else keep getting monthly emails saying that their amcas was processed? Mine was originally processed back in august, but every month i get an email saying "your amcas has been processed" I emailed them the first time to see if any additional changes were made after the first processing, but they said it was just a reminder. It's not important, I was just curious why it happens and if anyone else had the same thing

right, AMCAS just basically compiles a database of every course you took, and then calculates your cumulative gpa, your science gpa, and your non-science gpa, and also gpa for each year. the two grades for the class you retook are entered as if they were totally different courses. there is no consideration for the fact that you were retaking the class. you enter classes into AMCAS by the semester in which you took them, so the course would be in a different section as well.

there is a recent thread on this, something like "AMCAS is on crack"
a lot of people, including myself have gotten these...

I retook a class and it has been both grades have been included in my GPA calculations.

However, if it was a pre req and the school wants it listed on their secondary application that you took it. I always put the more recent administration of the class and subsequently the higher grade.
