Hi group-
When can one begin to fill out the application for AMCAS?

Is there space to "explain" anything in the Experience Descriptions section, or does one just list what he's done?

You'll have two places to write about your experiences: (1) the application essay and (2) the post-secondary experiences. The AAMC site has a worksheet that shows you what information you'll need to submit next year.
