I was told to provide a separate email account to only use for applying to Medical school. I was thinking of just setting up a free yahoo account. Does anyone know anything about using yahoo email?

there's nothing much to know. go to yahoo.com and click on the mail section and register...

If you're asking if it's a good idea to do this, then I think it is as long as you check it regularly - I used a yahoo account exclusively for AMCAS and med school correspondence this year. I also liked it as it meant I could access it when visiting other schools, whereas I couldn't do that with my school account.

this is my first year applying but i'm gonna just use my regular email acct (hotmail) b/c i check it regularly and I can access it from anywhere. if you can't access your email from any comp, than you should prolly get a yahoo or something, but if you can access from anywhere, then why complicate your life?

with hotmail in particular be careful with your spam settings - many people missed important med school messages this year as the hotmail filters shuffled things off to bulk mail folders or automatically deleted it depending how their settings were and either people didn't get the notices. I didn't hear of people having such problems with yahoo but of course its still possible.

hey tBW,

Wondering if you got a lot of junk mail in your yahoo account? Seems tons of my spam are from yahoo addresses. W/ yahoo, can you turn off the spam filter like w/ hotmail?

I'm reapplying & need to decide on email soon. Why'd you change your SN, btw?
