They say 4-6 weeks, but... I want to know if any of you have your AMCAS verified already. How long was the turnaround time? And if it's already been verified, when will it actually be transmitted to medical schools?

I submitted mine recently (Monday night) so I would just like to know the current 'lag' time. People say it gets really bad in July/August. Is that true from previous experience?

I have a friend who submitted a week ago and is already verified. The earlier you get your app in, the better chance you have of a quick verification. Last year, I submitted in early July and was verified a month later. Here's a thread from last year that might help give you an idea of timing.

I submitted my AMCAS last Thursday, the 3rd, and it was verified on the 9th. Color me surprised.

does verified mean that they got ALL transcripts and verified you GPA?

Yeah, they have my transcripts and when I go to print my application my GPA is on there.

When I applied last year:

Submitted Application: 9/17
Active: 9/24
Verified: 10/30

Took me 5 weeks and 1 day to get that sucker verified! You guys are definately doing the right thing by submitting early. Of course, it didn't make much of a difference for me since I took the August MCAT.

So yeah. When you start submitting your application later in the cycle, it takes quite a bit longer than a week.

are you able to get verified, then decide to wait for summer session 1 grades in July, and then get reverified before submitting?

Submitted mine on June 3rd. As of today June 9, it is in the process of "verification."

pretty sure you can't get verified until after you submit

Most folks send an update letter to schools with their grades. No need for formal verification.

i submitted on the 2nd, verified on the 8th, probably because i already sent my transcipts to aamc and they had it before i submitted

The schools can access your application even before it is verified (I know because 2 years ago I received secondaries from 4 schools even before my app was verified). Verification means that AMCAS has received all your transcripts, looked them over, and made sure you reported everything accurately. I think the schools are notified once you turn in your app and again when it is verified. However, last year (when I reapplied in early June) I was verified within a week but did not receive a secondary until July.
