If I list a contact person's name, does that mean that the medical schools should expect a LOR from that individual? What is that there for? Can we leave it blank if we are not planning on submitting a LOR for that experience?

I left some of mine blank. I think it helps to verify an experience. Also if it's research at a certain school or something like that it's possible that somebody on the adcom might call the person, or maybe they know the person and can ask about you. But in general if you don't have a contact name on some ECs it probably isn't a big deal.

I was told by an advisor that schools rarely contact the contact person, and only if they have good reason to suspect you're lying. It's optional
