I feel like I only have a superficial understanding of american healthcare policy and reform.

Anyone have any good book suggestions to help me out? I'd like to be a little more well versed before some interviews right around the corner.

Thanks!

This is a good quick and dirty briefing on what's wrong with American healthcare spending at the moment (you need an account to view the full article but it's free, and this is an excellent report). It's from 2008 so the numbers may be different but the problems are the same:

For a more in depth and qualitative look, with some focus on comparisons rather than just spending and numbers, check out "The Healing of America" by T.R. Reid:

The Commonwealth Fund also has some good papers if you look around on their website.
