I'm a 4th year American medical student and I failed my Step 2 CS (due to a death in the family I was ill prepared and not mentally ready for it and took it anyways, which was a bad idea, I know). I am most likely not going to match and am looking for advice and information. I have a Step 1 score of 230 and a step 2 CK score of 246, good grades, good evals, lots of volunteer time. I think I'm going to change career choices to anesthesia if it's possible. I'm going to take the CS again and graduate in June of this yr.

How will this affect me going on? Will it be too hard to match again? What should I do? Thanks!

Who knows. Pass the exam, take step 3. Get a really good letter. Your dean needs to start making calls. Our dean, teaching hospital routinely creates a spot for people who don't match, usually a prelim med/surg/family position. GOODLUCK!
