I am just going through amyloidosis in FA, each of the proteins is derived from something (e.g. AL protein from Ig light chain)

Does anybody know what AF is, 'transthyretin derived from AF'

Also AE, Amylin derived from AE? (pathoma saya Amylin is derived from insulin)

Any help...

Amyloidosis table in FA has lots of mistakes !! Accumulated amyloid in heart is called ATTR derived from serum transthyretin. Other rows in that table have interchanged protein names between 'amyloid protein' and 'precursor'.

I had the same question. I found: [FONT=times new roman, times]"Amyloid associated with familial amyloid neuropathies (AF)"

.Familial amyloidoses (AF)
  • Several different types are dominantly transmitted in association with a mutation that enhances protein misfolding and fibril formation.
  • Autosomal dominant diseases in which a variant plasma protein forms amyloid deposits, beginning in midlife
