"change the same atomic number?" rephrase that please.

If you're asking if a loss of e- will change the mass #, then no, it will not.

Atomic # = # Protons (It has nothing to do with the # of e-)
Mass # = #Protons + #Neutrons (Still nothing to do with the # of e-)

The only thing the loss of an electron does is that it converts a neutral atom to a positively charged cation!
