Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone had applied, or thought about applying, to some of the clinical informatics and/or perioperative administration fellowships, some of which are rooted within the anesthesia departments. I just feel that this is a hot field not only because of the popularity of social media and technological developments, but with increasing federal regulations to have all of our record-keeping standardized and electronically documented. Any thoughts?

You can come work for us for $50k full time to work on the EMR streamlining and OR work flow projects. I'll even give you a certificate at the end of the year.
I know of one highly regarded place that offers a fellowship in OR management. I don't know if anyone has taken them up on it. When I wanted to learn, I just did the schedule and managed the flow during the day for about a week. Imagine that. Maybe I should ask for certification.
They'll offer a fellowship in anything...

The only periop fellowship worth its salt is a 2 year-one that comes with a free MBA degree.

I will use my favorite real world example: when I was looking for a job as a CA-3, I was initially offered an ambulatory anesthesia fellowship, which I turned down. A few weeks later, I got my own "fellowship", as an attending, for fewer hours and few times more money. And I had such a great teacher... 😀
