anesthesiology shortage

i've heard a lot of people say that anesthesiology is on an 'upswing' .. ie. more and more people are applying each year and will be a for a few years at least. does that mean salaries will be on a down-swing? or are the waves of numbers only in terms of finding a good program/job in the first place? after that are you home free?
