  1. Pre-Pharmacy
A quick synopsis of my situation. I am a 35 yr old Air Guard member that entered a six year contract on 01 May 08. I chose this route because of the 27 year old age restriction of the Active Air Force. I am currently completing my pre-requisites for acceptance into Pharmacy school in the fall of 2010. Upon completion of the degree in 2014 I plan to then commission into the Active AF.

My BMT experience was a positive one. I completed the course as the top graduate and as a result had the opportunity to spend some time with my training squadron commander. Upon hearing my plans for the future, he felt that it would be possible for me to enter the Active AF now and utilize some of the benfets available to BMS officers. His only disclaimer was that I talk with the correct people and be persistant.

I am hoping that this forum may help me sort out exactly what those options are. After perusing the many threads I have several questions.
1. Is it possible to break the ANG contract and enter the Active AF now? If so what are the considerations associated with such a move.
2. If this is possible, is it wise to make such a transition prior to being accepted into a pharmacy program?
3. Some threads seem to suggest that guard benefits are better for med students. If this is true, does this apply to bio-med students as well?
4. Is the HPSP a viable option at this point given that I am already under contract?

Any information to help point me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
